The Owen’s Condition for Tuition scholarship

The Owens Condition for Tuition scholarship challenge is back for its 14th year at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC)! This program, running from the first day of the fall semester through the end of April, is completely FREE to join and open to all currently enrolled students for the academic year.

Josh Owen, and family, created this scholarship program in 2011 with the goal of encouraging students to adopt healthy lifestyle practices into their day to day routines.

Rules for Participation

Sign-ups begin at the SRWC front desk on the first day of the fall semester.
You can claim up to 5 points per week (Sunday through Saturday).
Only 1 point per day may be earned for a workout or wellness activity.
Activities must last at least 30 minutes to qualify.
All winners must be present at the celebration event to claim their prizes, including the tuition award.

How it works

The goal is to visit the SRWC 50 times throughout the academic year to complete a workout or wellness-related activity. Each visit earns 1 point, which students redeem by scanning their barcode at the front desk scanner before exiting the facility.

50 points: Earn a finisher prize and enter an opportunity drawing to win a semester of free undergraduate tuition for the next fall semester.
25 points: Receive a halfway prize.

Celebration Event

At the end of the spring semester, the SRWC hosts a celebration to recognize participants’ dedication to health and wellness. The event features food, entertainment, fun activities and additional prize drawings for participants in attendance. The grand prize tuition winner will be announced at the event, and they must be present to claim the prize.

Stay on top of your points through the SRWC GO portal:

Visit the portal here.
Log in using your CSULB campus ID and Single Sign-On (SSO) password.
Navigate to ‘Multi-Visit Passes’ on the left-hand menu to check your progress.
You can also verify your points at the front desk.
