Welcome to the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center

Since 1975, The Isabel Patterson Child Development Center (IPCDC) provides a valuable service to students who are also parents of young children, offering affordable child care on the campus of California State University, Long Beach.

Our staff is made up of highly trained and qualified teachers who deliver quality early care and education programs for 230 children each semester from 6 months through 2nd grade.

We are licensed by the Department of Social Services and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

“Care are the roots that make our home where children grow and thrive.”

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center is to deliver quality early care and development services which enable student parents to attend classes at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). The IPCDC offers children an experience that facilitates their growth, learning and creativity and is supportive of all children including those with identified disabilities and special learning and developmental needs.

Children of student parents receive priority for registration. As space permits, children of CSULB staff, faculty, alumni, and the community are offered services as well. The IPCDC also serves as a resource for the University’s academic programs, for the community, and for other institutions of postsecondary education.
